GABRIELE PACCHIA MAYER BIOGRAPHY:
Gabriele Pacchia, also known as Mayer, was born in a family of theatrical tailors. Once he completed the studies in the artistic high school and after the death of his father, Gabriele began working alongside his mother and sister in the family’s tailoring, focusing on costumes for theatre. After some time he began working with important costume designers such as Giulio Coltellacci, Maria De Matteis and Piero Gherardi. In collaboration with Gherardi he made the costumes for Federico Fellini’s “La dolce vita” (1960), “8 e mezzo” (1963), “Giulietta degli spiriti” (1965) and they also made the costumes for “I caroselli Barilla” (1966-1967) in which the iconic italian singer Mina sang songs that have remained in history as some of the most beautiful italian pieces. Mayer then went on to work with great costume designers like Canonero, Colabucci, Diappi, Frattolillo, Marzot, Sabatelli. He worked also on the costumes for Raffaella Carrà and Renato Zero. For the latter he designed the costumes used in various tours. Nowadays, for over 30 years, Mayer has asserted himself in costume design not only for theatre but also for cinema and the small screen in Italy (Mediaset, RAI) and abroad (Paris’s Opèra).
