DOUGLAS MEAKIN BIOGRAPHY :
Albert Douglas Meakin (Liverpool, 17 March 1945) is a British musician and singer. Ringo Starr’s schoolmate, between 1966 and 1970 he was a member of the beat group The Motowns, with whom he released two albums and ten singles. Like the Beatles, the Motowns were also exponents of Mersey beat. The Motowns settled in Italy during a tour and Albert Douglas became a popular studio musician, collaborating among others with Ennio Morricone. He composed songs for the soundtracks of television programs and cinematographic films, signing them as Douglas Meakin. In 1979 he composed the song Tarzan Tarzan for Elisabetta Viviani with Mike Fraser and Aldo Tamborelli. He then founded the group Superobots, composing theme tunes for cartoons published on the RCA label. In 1980, together with Mike Fraser, he founded the group Rocking Horse. He also founded or was a member of other groups: Crazy Gang, Easy Going, Superband, Tortuga, Traks. Douglas Meakin provided the voice for the choirs of All’età della pietra interpreted by Sarah & Co. (Massimo Cantini – choir, Sara Kappa/Sara Cappa – voice, Douglas Meakin – choir, Massimo Cantini – music, Lucio Macchiarella – lyrics) , Megalosingers (Flavio Carraresi – music, Carlo Rossi and Angelo Rotunno – music) for the theme songs I-Zenborg/Megaloman and I Drago (Claudia Amiro, Douglas Meakin and Aldo Tamborrelli on vocals, lyrics by Paolo Dossena, music by Aldo Tamborrelli) for the Ginguiser/Guyslugger theme songs. In 1983 he composed In The Middle of All That Trouble Again, used as title music for the film Born with a Shirt starring Terence Hill and Bud Spencer. Between the mid-eighties and the end of the decade, he co-wrote some songs with singer Mike Francis.
