Gustav Thöni, sometimes Italianized as Gustavo Thoeni (Stelvio, 28 February 1951), is a former Italian alpine skier and alpine ski coach. He is considered one of the greatest alpine skiing champions of all time thanks to four victories in the overall World Cup (in 1971, 1972, 1973 and 1975), the second place achieved in 1974, five World Cups specialty and successes at the World Championships and the Olympics: he won the gold medal in the giant slalom (also valid for world championship purposes) and the silver medal in the slalom special at the As a coach, he led the Italian national team and for years personally followed Alberto Tomba, contributing to his successes (including the victory of the World Cup, the third Italian to do so after Thöni himself and Piero Gros).
