Mattia Destro (born 20 March 1991) is an Italian professional footballer who plays as a striker for Serie A club Empoli. He has also featured at international level, holding eight caps for Italy. Mattia Destro began his career at Ascoli and later joined Inter Milan’s youth system. After shining in various youth teams, he had stints at Genoa, Siena, and Roma before playing for AC Milan, Bologna, and eventually returning to Genoa. In 2022, he joined Empoli on a free transfer. Representing Italy at various youth levels, Destro made his senior team debut in 2012 but missed out on Euro 2012 and the 2014 World Cup. Known for his quickness, technique, and finishing ability, Destro was considered one of the best young talents in football.
